Steve Baker MP: The Financial System and Its Reform

On 28 May 2013, Steve Baker MP, Conservative Member of Parliament for Wycombe, spoke to the Oxford Hayek Society at Christ Church College on the subject of: 'The Financial System and Its Reform'.

Steve Baker MP has been the Member of Parliament for Wycombe since 2010, representing the Conservative Party. He is a co-founder of the Cobden Centre, a British thinktank promoting Austrian economics. He founded and chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Economics, Money and Banking and he is a Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Aerospace.


Prior to his political career, Steve was an engineer officer in the Royal Air Force. He became a Chartered Engineer through the Royal Aeronautical Society, holding a military airworthiness licence. After his time with the RAF, he read a Master of Science in Computer Science at St. Cross College, University of Oxford. He later joined a specialist software firm as Head of Consulting and Product Manager before taking on various senior roles in technical contexts.
